Fastest way to get a lantern and updated Solstice Soiree Itinerary

I am actually not involved in the organizing of the Solstice Soiree (AKA. Lantern Festival, Winter Solstice) in Prince George… however, I have taken upon myself to tell anyone that will actually listen to me :)   about the event.. WHY? because the more the merrier! And my family would be one of those that would be upset if we found out about it afterward.

Anyway, in my last post about the event, I wrote about how easy it can be to create a lantern. But with 2 kids, work, and life getting in the way… even my easy, “grab a pop can method” was a little too overwhelming for our family.

If you’re in the same boat, I’ll let you in on a secret… the fastest way to get a lantern is to go to the Chinese Store downtown. For as little as $2 (and up to about $8 depending on the size) you can purchase a perfectly wonderful lantern. See picture above.

Then… don’t get a candle, tea light or even an LED tea light… instead, the guy at the Chinese store said to get a glow in the dark stick (found at all the dollar stores). If you get the stick with a hole at the top, you can actually hook it into the top part of the frame.

Presto… spending under $5 (and saving about 3 hours of your life)…. you can join in the festivities! Honestly, no excuses now.

Come on by.  Can’t wait to see everyone. If you aren’t into the lanterns, then check out the long list of other things now happening below. It is an updated itinerary of the evening!

Also, tell everyone you know! I keep on thinking people must know about the event…but I am still meeting people that haven’t heard about it.
