Social Networking in #PrinceGeorge – “Please make this painless!”

painless social networking“AH, I just want to make this painless” This is a request I get from clients all the time.  I had a conversation today just like that and I was inspired to write this article!

When we look at Social Networking in Prince George as another task to do in our business, it can often feel like we are adding “more pain”… “more effort” and “more work” to our plates. And who wants more of that?

The one thing I realized is that “when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change” (Wayne Dyer quote!)… Social Networking is not about a whole new way of doing business (although it can seem that way!). When we change the way we look at Social Networking… the thing (social networking) we are looking at will change.

It is about taking what already works in your business and amplifying it to more people using the tools of Facebook, Twitter and your client conversion website. It is about taking the sides of your personal brand that people already connect with both in business and personally and putting it online. It is about a some what automated way of marketing even when you are too busy to market.

When we take a room full of business people, even all from the same industry, each person has unique traits, unique ways of interacting, unique ways of talking, unique ways at looking at their industry/specialty. When you get to know each person individually, you realize there will be some that you resonate with and others you don’t.

It is easy to set up a Facebook account, Twitter account and to even throw up a website these days. You either put in the time or you put up the money. But just setting up these accounts or websites and not injecting what is unique about you in them, is like assuming a room full of people all have the exact same personality just because they are all from the same industry.

Your interaction in social networking has to be authentic to who you are… AND as unique as the interaction would be with you in real life.

At the end of the day, your ROI of time or money from social networking depends on the same foundation as the way you are currently generating revenues to your business — your engagement with your clients and them connecting to YOU.

Social networking is not only going to be sticking around… it is going to be here to aid us in reaching more people.

“Time is money” is the way the saying goes… if you want to expedite your learning curve and want to implement a social networking strategy into your Prince George business, let’s talk.
