Pinterest – How can sharing my dreams get me clients

Social networking sites are popping up all over the place. The recent biggie is of course Google+. If you are there, definitely find me by clicking here. I’d love to connect there

Now, Google+ plus may be the biggest up and coming site out there, but have you heard of Pinterest? Neither had I until a few days ago!

Before you run the other way from yet ANOTHER social networking site, this site had me at “hello”… as in “hello, is it possible that such a FUN site exists out there!”

As soon as I signed up (via my Twitter Site), I realized that 149 of my followers were already on here. How did I miss this?

Here’s the short version of this site: When you sign up, you get virtual boards to “pin” images you find online that you like. Check out my boards here.

It is really a site that is about sharing your visions, dreams and well… obsessions.

So how does it fit into the realm of social networking and getting clients?

Social networking is all about getting to know clients. The more you know about your clients the better you are able to understand them and serve them.

The Pinterest site allows you to connect up your followers and friends from Facebook and Twitter. This means that you are able to get to know what their interests are further than 140 characters (twitter) and more so than just what their past is all about (facebook).

You are able to see where they want to go, what they think is beautiful, what they think is of “value”. You can also @ mention them… a feature I have yet to use… I’m still new to the candy shop and my eyes are bugged out ogling everything.

Now the flip side to this coin is also allowing clients to get to know you. Who are you? What do you like that might be in common with what they like?

By sharing, your customers get to know who you are too. People always end up doing business with people they know, like and trust. The more people know about you the easier it is for them to trust you.

Eg.  “@XYZ wants to go to Tahiti too”… or “I didn’t know you were obsessed with the color turquoise as well!!!”

Just take a look at my profile and you’ll learn a little bit more about my obsessions, quirks, dreams, and hopes.

The best part is that it is really fun and easy to do this with Pinterest.

As for direct ROI (return on investment), as @unmarketing/ Scott Stratten would say, you can’t put ROI on relationship building.

If you are looking to join, there is a waitlist to get in. (I wrote an article all about the strategy of this on my business site. ) However, if you pop me an email at support [at] shaunaharper.com with the subject line: Pinterest Invite, I’ll set you up.

Would love to know your thoughts. Leave your comments below.

Looking forward to connecting !
