Gravatars – Let’s see your face Prince George

I have written this article on so many different websites that I don’t remember if I shared it with you on LiveWorkPG.com . Commenting on blogs is a great way to drive traffic back to your own website and blog.

When you comment, you get backlinks to your own site. When you fill in your website information, when someone likes something you commented, wants to find out more about you, they can click on your name and it will link them back to the site that you listed. Awesome eh?

Well, wouldn’t it be awesome if they could also add a face to your name? Visuals and photos enhance the feelings of recognition and make people feel like they know you already!Do you know how when you read the comments to blogs you see a little picture on the side of certain faces? Well, those are called Gravatars.

The word Gravatar stands for “Globally Recognized Avatar,” which just means it is an avatar that is tied to your email address and recognized across the internet. Officially, a Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog.

To get your own Gravatar, go to http://en.gravatar.com/site/signup/ and enter your email address in the box. You’ll need to verify your email address and then the site will walk you through creating your Gravatar step by step. Just remember to have a photo of yourself ready to upload. (Hint: Use the same photo that you use on Facebook and Twitter for consistency and added recognition.)
